Compare AC proposals without losing the scope
Use a side-by-side worksheet to separate included work, exclusions and questions still awaiting confirmation.
Write down the same starting problem
Tell each business the same symptoms, equipment details and access requirements. Keep a copy of the diagnostic finding if one exists. Comparing a cleaning visit with a repair proposal, or a limited equipment change with a complete replacement, can make two prices look more comparable than they are. Start by naming the service each proposal actually covers.
Separate the equipment from the work
For replacement, record the model numbers and the proposed indoor/outdoor match. Then list controls, removal, refrigerant-related work and any electrical or duct work. For repair, record the finding, parts, labor and return-visit assumptions. Ask who will obtain applicable permits and arrange inspections. An address with a Dallas mailing label may fall under a different permitting authority.
Resolve exclusions before approving work
Highlight phrases such as additional work, access limitations or subject to inspection. Ask how an unexpected finding will be priced and authorized. Record whether the assessment charge is included or credited, whether an ordered part means another appointment and how the business will communicate a schedule change. Do not treat a provisional date as a confirmed appointment.
Compare the full written agreement
Read warranty conditions and payment terms beside the scope. Ask who handles follow-up issues and whether equipment and labor coverage differ. This guide supplies no Dallas price average, financing promise or rebate eligibility claim. Its purpose is to make the differences visible so you can ask an informed question before authorizing work.
